IT TRAINING

DIL’s ICT Program for Schools arranges diverse capacity building training for IT teachers and relevant IT staff. DIL believes that in today’s world, teachers need to be equipped not only with subject-specific expertise and effective teaching methodologies, but also with the capacity to assist students to meet the demands of the emerging knowledge-based society. Teachers therefore require familiarity with new forms of ICT and need to have the ability to use that technology to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

DIL offers a Foundation Certification Program for IT teachers by blending innovative ideas and practical work. This beginner course enables primary school teachers in resource-deficit communities to operate a computer, understand online applications and familiarize themselves with a range of effective ICT-based learning practices and pedagogies. The IT course is comprised of seven modules as follows:

  1. Basic computer skills
  2. Use of multimedia learning resources
  3. Microsoft Office
  4. Project Based Learning (PBL)
  5. Computer lab maintenance
  6. Internet and Online Communication
  7. ICT Syllabus

After one year of service and attending minimum a minimum of two training sessions, DIL teachers are expected to demonstrate the following skills:

  • – Capable information technology users.
  • – Information seekers, analyzers, and evaluators.
  • – Conceptually clear about the methods and processes of Project-based Learning (PBL).
  • – Creative and effective users of productivity tools.
  • – Communicators, collaborators, publishers, and producers.
